Our life since the last post..........

It has been a while since my last post! So much has happened lately :) Lets see.........Alyssa had her birthday! She turned 7 on September 29!!!! I can't believe she is so big! I had my 30th birthday (YIKES) on the 26th. my mom and Chris threw a suprise party for me at my mom's. It was really nice. We had some Yummy Mexican Food (my favorite) and had a great time with the family. Then I had ANOTHER suprise party that was mainly for friends that my sister in law, brother and Chris threw for me. Who knew turning 30 could be so much fun???? :) Hmmmm...........what else..........Oh, my nephew Hudson Gantt Nolte was born on my birthday :) He is such a cutie!!! His mom is doing great too! She had a very bad experience with Ryan's birth and this one, she has done AWESOME!

One more thing........OCTOBER 12, 2006 was the day we adopted Abby and Brayden! Soooooooo we celebrated their 2 year GOTCHA day on Sunday!!!! Brayden wanted Japanese food and Abby wanted Borscht (a traditional Ukrainian beet soup). We went to a Japanese Steakhouse for lunch and had Borscht for dinner. I made this myself in the crock pot. It turned out pretty good! Even Brayden liked it and he doesn't like soup. We then put candles in the brownies that I made and sang "Happy Gotcha Day To You!" Oh, I almost forgot..........the night before this day, Chris scratched his eyeball pretty bad. He works at a Haunted house in Athens and wears these eerie looking contacts that make your eyeballs white. When he took the contacts out, he scratched his eye. He came home in so much pain. I wanted to take him to the ER, but he insisted on sleeping it off. The next morning, when the pain was worse, he gave in and let me take him. Good thing he went because he had an infection in his eye from the scratch. He is much better now, but that day, he was a mess. We missed church because of the ER (that was a bummer for both of us because Pastor Troy is doing an AWESOME series on FIREPROOF the movie) and after the hospital, when we went to the steakhouse, Chris couldn't even see :( He insisted that we go anyway because of the kids. When we got home, he slept the rest of the afternoon. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah................blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah..........is that what I sound like? No really, that is what it seem like I sound like in this post. LOL! Just babling away!! :) Maybe it is the dreary day outside? Who knows.......BTW, if you haven't see the movie FIREPROOF yet, you really should go see it. Take your tissues, you'll need them.

On the Ukrainian front, we are still up in the air about what we are going to be able to do. I really don't know if we are going to be able to go in February now. Money is kindof tight and the economy..........well, no need to explain there..........I am shooting for the end of March. I found a good deal on airfare and it will put us there over spring break, which would be ideal, so my mom could help us out with watching Wyatt. IF we are NOT able to go in March, we may have to wait until November 2009 since the airfare is unaffordable between April-October. I REALLY hope that it works out for us to go in Feb. or March. PLEASE PLEASE pray that it will work out for us. The kids are already so excited, and I don't want to wait too long and possibly not be able to locate the grandmother for some reason.

On a happy note.........Wyatt is crawling EVERYWHERE!!!! He is such a little stinker :) I will try to baracade him in an area, and he somehow manages to bust through the baracade. When he gets through, he just laughs and laughs. :) LOL! He is just like his Daddy!

OK, well that is all for now. I will update more often. I hope everyone is having a wonderful fall :) I LOVE this weather!!!!

Love,

Julie

Congratulations on your busy month or so!
I remember reading your other blog about when you were in Ukraine two years ago - we were busy waiting for our appointment date and reading anything and everything that had to do with Ukraine!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on your early spring trip... its so hard to plan anything anymore with the economy and everything going on... maybe things will mellow after the election and you can start planning again!

Best wishes!
Amy

Julie, I just happened upon your blog. You have a wonderful family! We have an eleven year old son that was adopted from Ukraine at 4 years. How were you able to do biological research for both siblings and birth parents? Our agency has been of no help in this area. We would also like to take a trip back. Is someone helping you arrange this? I would appreciate any information that you could give me on any of this. Thank you, Linda beyerschor@yahoo.com

happy 30th birthday much easier then turning 40!!!!

I am wanting to take my son to see his great grandmother and sister. His Grt grandma is 86 or 87 so it is crucial to do soon! Although money is tight I think missing the opportunity would be worse.

Good luck on going!
